Humans have always adorned themselves in jewelry. The first known piece was made of shell beads and found in Africa. It dates back more than 75,000 years.

Jewelry has been worn and used by every society for a number of reasons such as currency, dowries, functionally as clasps and pins, symbolism (most often religious or status), protection (amulets and magic wands) and artistic display.

Theories abound: What does it really mean? Do women wear it for themselves, for men, or to impress other women? How much should men wear? Who should buy it? Men for women? Women for men? Men for men? Women for Women? Women and men for themselves?
